11/5 standard Japanese 20.3

It's interesting because I study Japanese origin in NZ.

Do you know where standard language came from?

In Japan, the goverment decide the language spoken in Tokyo as a standard.

One of my karate friends asked me why the language spoken in Tokyo

is standard? There are lots of dialect all over the Japan, so

the other dialect could be standard. Why in Tokyo?

She guessed the reason. Her opinion is that is because Tokyo is a

capital.

Goverment in capital makes the content of Japanese for textbooks in

school, so they are easy to spread their own dialect.

In terms of goverment, it is better to make their dialect spread

because they don't have to learn different dialects. For this

reason, the Tokyo dialect should be standard in her opinion.

I don't know the answer, so I researched by the internet.

I found those things.

・Japanese goverment started making standard language in Meiji period.

・They researched their dialects and revealed them from scientific
standpoint.

・They chose the language spoken by middle class people in Tokyo as
standard one.

Finally, I couldn't find the reason why they chose the language

spoken by middle class people in Tokyo.

I wonder it is because Tokyo is capital as she said.

It is still mystery.
