How long can we keep eggs for eating?

In my home, there are lots of eggs.

In Japan, we keep eggs at most 1 or 2 weeks because it is easy to

go bad. Eggs are delicate foods, so each egg has the expire date

at the top or bottom.

Therefore, I wonder we could eat all those eggs before expire.

Howeverm, my hostmother insisted that

"We can keep eggs at least 6weeks even out of the fridge"

I couldn't believe it.

At least 6weeks??

Out of the fridge??

It is impossible.

Hostmother explained that the egg came from happy chicken.

Happy chicken means they can eat nice food, they can move free, so

they are almost no stress and happy.

That's why they can keep eggs long time because eggs are fresh and

strong.

I guessed my hostmother bought very nice and high price eggs, so

I asked how much they were.

They were $5 for 30 eggs.

It is.....

about 10yen per egg!!

I can't understand why they are such cheap eggs.

In Japan, probably they are much more expensive.

To know the answer, I should be familiar with the situation and

background of farmer in NZ.

It's really interesting.
